Ditch the Dollhouse » Devlog
Welcome back to another weekly update on "Ditch the Dollhouse"! Our team has been hard at work, pushing forward with exciting new features, bug fixes, and artistic enhancements to bring our puzzle-platformer to life.
What We've Achieved This Week:
Gameplay Mechanics:
Limb Mechanics Improvements:
- Fixed Limb Tag Issue: Resolved an issue where the left limb tag took longer to reset.
- Trajectory Consistency: Implemented a consistent way of making the trajectory follow the camera for the x and z directions.
Platform and Interaction Enhancements:
- Moving Platform Fixes: Updated the moving platform to work in all directions and with multiple objects. The pick-up mechanic for the cube now requires both arms and a leg.
- Temporary Trajectory Solution: Developed a temporary solution to get the trajectory angle to follow the camera.
Level Design and Interactions:
Puzzle and Interaction Refinements:
- Pressure Plate Fixes: Improved pressure plate functionality to prevent early exits, allow multiple triggers, and enhance visibility. Combined functionality with VarDoorOpen for simplicity.
Art and Audio:
UI and Audio Enhancements:
- Limb UI System: Implemented the Limb UI system, though it is currently missing a few sprites.
- FMOD Integration: Added the FMOD file and set up FMOD for better audio management.
- Sound Effects: Introduced pop sounds for all limbs, enhancing the auditory feedback during gameplay.
Next Milestones:
Refine Mechanics:
- Continue refining limb mechanics to ensure they feel right and respond accurately within the game environment.
- Implement additional puzzle prefabs and discuss introducing secondary mechanics to enhance gameplay depth.
Bug Squashing:
- Address known bugs and ensure a stable build for future playtests.
- Continue cleaning up the repository to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
UI and Audio Design:
- Integrate the newly designed UI menus into the game.
- Finalize the background music and scope out sound effects for various objects and interactions.
We are thrilled with the progress made this week and are eager to continue improving and expanding "Ditch the Dollhouse". Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, thank you for following our journey!
